Las Vegas: Home to the World’s Largest Gay Club?

Las Vegas club owner Kelly Murphy plans to move and expand the gay hotspot Krave to historic Fremont Street at Neonopolis and rename it Krave Massive. It is set to move to the third floor of the $100 million entertainment complex, which was formerly occupied by the 14-screen, 80,000-square-foot Galaxy 11 multiplex. The “mammoth” club will feature five uniquely themed dance rooms for fans of House, Top 40, Hip-Hop, Country, and Latin music. Each room of Krave Massive will be marked by not only its unique sounds, but also own individual design and ambient entertainment.

In the press release, Murphy said that the club will also include three separate bars staffed by a crew of 24 bartenders,  a martini lounge, a members-only VIP lounge, Indulge Private Lounge, a comedy club called Tickled Pink, a performing arts theater, an LGBT movie theatre, a retail merchandise store, a multi-purpose or conference room, and a lesbians only dance lounge.

Murphy told Huffington Post Gay Voices that the “initial cost of renovation is approximately $1.5 million. Another $750,000 will be invested for the pool and cabana addition in the summer of 2013,” adding more fun to the list of new things to come for Gay Vegas.

About the party location shift, Murphy said “The biggest challenge will be in educating the public that downtown Vegas has been revitalized—it’s cool and hip now! It’s an easy 10 minute drive from the strip (although we have purchased 4 shuttles that will run throughout the night)… We have created a tagline to help get the message out: ‘Making downtown Vegas fabulous, one GAY at a time!’” Murphy will partner with other downtown businesses, such as a new hotel project called The Grand to make the area even more appealing.

In May, 2012, Murphy opened a drag queen bowling alley and bar, Drink & Drag, which is also housed at Neonopolis, and possibly might link to Krave Massive, adding on to the total square foot. Drink & Drag is by “America’s best drag queens”, and features an ultimate play lounge in entertainment with: 12 lanes of bowling, pool tables, dart boards, a dance floor, a VIP area, and an appetizing bar menu. The Las Vegas Sun reports that even just a few short months, business is drawing about 4,100 people per week

Krave is currently located in the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood on the strip, and draws about 4,500 per week. Check out both spots if visiting during Las Vegas Pride, September 7-8. See more renditions of Krave Massive here.
